The Repeal Hyde Art Project seeks a dynamic cohort of young leaders to join the movement to end abortion coverage restrictions. The leaders will commit to developing a project that incorporates a Repeal Hyde Art Project installation. They will also receive one-on-one mentorship by Founder Megan Smith, participate in a series of communications trainings about abortion access and stigma from professionals in the field, interact with and receive support from people who work in the movement, develop community with each other, and have the chance to showcase and publicize their work via Repeal Hyde Art Project social media channels.

 This is not your traditional leadership program. The aim is not only to offer you support and build on your existing skills, but also to raise your voice in the movement and offer you a seat at the table. 

Qualifications
Applicants must:

  • Be 18-22 years of age;
  • Commit to a full-day of training on October 4 in Boston co-sponsored by the Reproductive Health Technologies Project (travel and hotel stipends are available);
  • Participate in the program from August 2014 through June 2015, which includes developing a leadership project, publishing a piece of media, and monthly calls/training opportunities;
  • Work well in independent and group settings; and
  • Have a passion for advancing reproductive health and rights, a sense of humor, and a drive to innovate.

Opportunities
Applicants will receive:

  • One-on-one mentoring by Founder Megan Smith;
  • A series of communications trainings by leading professionals in abortion access;
  • Support to develop an individual leadership project that includes a Repeal Hyde Art Project installation (including a stipend to cover the costs of materials);
  • Support to develop and publish a piece of media; and
  • Opportunity to showcase communications, writing, or artwork through the Repeal Hyde Art Project social media channels.
